Balochistan Braces for Extreme Heat, Dust Storms

The Meteorological Department’s Regional Centre in Quetta on Monday forecast predominantly hot and dry weather across most parts of Balochistan over the next 24 to 48 hours, warning of strong gusty winds accompanied by sand and dust storms in several districts.

According to the department, seasonal low pressure continues to prevail over Balochistan, while a continental air mass remains dominant across most parts of the region, creating conditions favourable for intense heat.

The forecast for the next 24 hours indicates that most districts will experience hot and dry weather. However, partly cloudy to cloudy conditions are expected along the coastal belt. Strong winds carrying sand and dust are likely to affect Chagai, Washuk, Kharan, Panjgur, Kech, Chaman, Pishin, Quetta and coastal areas during the afternoon and evening.

Looking ahead to the next 48 hours, the department said the prevailing hot and dry conditions are expected to persist across most districts. Rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorms is likely in Zhob, Sherani, Barkhan, Musa Khel and Rakhni. Extremely hot weather is expected to continue in Sibi, Usta Muhammad, Sohbatpur, Jaffarabad, Naseerabad, Nokkundi, Washuk, Panjgur, Kech, Dalbandin, Kharan and Noshki.
