Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar on Wednesday took strict notice of the kidnapping, sexual assault and murder of a minor child in Karachi.
The Sindh home minister has sought an immediate and detailed report about the incident from the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police South. He directed authorities to submit a comprehensive report on the progress made in arresting the suspect and the status of the ongoing investigation.
The minister instructed that all aspects of the case be investigated in a fair, impartial and transparent manner. He stressed that justice must be ensured for the bereaved family.
Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar ordered strict and indiscriminate legal action against those involved in such heinous crimes, in accordance with the law. He further directed investigators to prepare a strong charge sheet based on solid evidence to ensure the accused receives the maximum punishment under the law.
The minister also instructed the authorities to strengthen security and surveillance measures for the protection of children across the city. He said crimes against young children would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) City was directed to keep the Home Department regularly informed about the investigation through periodic progress reports.
The Sindh Home Minister reiterated that ensuring justice for the victim’s family remained the government’s top priority.
It may be noted that a six-year-old minor boy, who went missing in Karachi’s Napier area, has been found dead, with signs of torture, inside a sack, the police said. A neighbour has been arrested and the post-mortem report is awaited.
