Roadside Bomb Kills Two Policemen in Tank area

Two police officers were killed and two others injured on Monday after a roadside improvised explosive device (IED) struck an armored police vehicle during a routine patrol in Pakistan’s northwestern Tank district, police officials said.

The explosion occurred near Misha Jan Bungalow within the jurisdiction of the Shaheed Mureed Akbar Police Station, where the blast destroyed the armored vehicle. Police identified the slain officers as Assistant Sub-Inspector Fareedullah and Constable Akhtar Zaman, who died at the scene. Another constable and the vehicle’s driver sustained injuries in the attack, officials said.

Following the explosion, heavy contingents of police and other law enforcement agencies rushed to the site. The injured personnel were shifted to a nearby hospital, where they received medical treatment.

Security forces sealed off the area, gathered forensic evidence from the blast site, and launched a search operation to trace those responsible for the attack.

Investigators are examining the nature of the explosion and working to identify the perpetrators behind the bombing.

Security measures across the area have been tightened following the incident.
