Chairman Senate of Pakistan Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani today paid tribute to the martyrs of July 13, 1931, saying that their sacrifices remain a timeless symbol of the Kashmiri people’s struggle for justice, dignity, and the right to self-determination.
In his message on Kashmir Martyrs’ Day, the Senate chairman said that the 22 Kashmiris who embraced martyrdom outside Srinagar Central Jail had demonstrated extraordinary courage and an unwavering commitment to their rights. He noted that their sacrifices continue to inspire generations and serve as a powerful reminder of the resilience of the Kashmiri people.
Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering moral, political, and diplomatic support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that a peaceful and lasting resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, is essential for achieving durable peace and stability in South Asia.
The Senate chairman urged the international community to take meaningful steps to protect human rights in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and to support efforts aimed at ensuring justice, peace, and respect for the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people.
He expressed solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and reiterated that Pakistan stands firmly with them in what he described as their legitimate struggle for their internationally recognized rights.
