On directions of Prime Minister, Chairman NDMA Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, visited Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority (GBDMA) to assess ground preparedness for the ongoing monsoon season.
According to an official information today, the NDMA chairman reviewed district-wise readiness, early warning systems, rescue and relief capacities, evacuation plans, and coordination mechanisms for flash floods, landslides, and riverine flooding in vulnerable valleys.
He emphasized timely implementation of contingency plans, prepositioning of relief stocks, and strengthening of community awareness in high-risk areas. He directed GBDMA to ensure seamless coordination with district administrations and all relevant stakeholders for a swift and effective response.
The chairman appreciated the efforts of GBDMA and reiterated NDMA’s full support to Gilgit-Baltistan in enhancing resilience against hydro-meteorological hazards.
