Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi has said that promoting sports and encouraging healthy activities among young people are among the government’s key priorities.
He expressed these views while attending the live screening of the FIFA World Cup Final on a giant screen at Governor House Karachi, according to information by the Sindh Governor House today.
A large number of media representatives, distinguished guests, members of the diplomatic community, youth, women, children and football enthusiasts attended the event and enjoyed the thrilling final in a vibrant atmosphere.
Among those present were Minister of State for Religious Affairs Khel Das Kohistani, Minister of State and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Dr Fahad Haroon, Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Sindh Coordinator Fahad Shafiq, Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner Muhammad Sakib Sadakat, Additional Inspector General of Police Karachi Azad Khan, Chairman of the Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD) Muhammad Hassan Bakhshi, Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent Sindh Rehan Hashmi, renowned film star Javed Sheikh, Ahmed Chinoy, and other prominent business and social personalities.
He congratulated the champion Spain on its remarkable victory and paid tribute to both finalist teams for their outstanding performance. He said Spain demonstrated exceptional skill, discipline, teamwork and high-quality football throughout the tournament, while both teams provided football fans with a memorable and thrilling final.
He said that such events promote sports, public engagement, positive youth activities and a healthy social environment. The Governor Sindh further said that Governor House remains open to the public and will continue to host activities that encourage sports, youth engagement and family entertainment.
The event concluded in a festive atmosphere, with football fans enthusiastically supporting their favourite teams and enjoying the world-class final on the giant screen.
Hashmi presented commemorative shields to members of the Pakistan football team in recognition of their services. He said that the country’s footballers are a valuable national asset and expressed hope that football in Pakistan will continue to progress, with national players bringing further pride to the country at the international level.
