Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh today expressed serious concern over the country’s prevailing political and economic situation, warning that Pakistan’s economy continues to deteriorate and could face further decline unless urgent corrective measures are introduced.
In a statement issued on Monday, Haleem alleged that the government’s economic policies had pushed the country to the brink of default, while soaring inflation and rising unemployment had forced more than half of the population below the poverty line.
He said sustainable economic recovery could not be achieved without political stability, arguing that prolonged political uncertainty had severely affected investment, business activity and industrial growth, with ordinary citizens bearing the brunt of the economic downturn.
Sheikh said the release of former prime minister Imran Khan, along with all political detainees, was essential for resolving the country’s ongoing political crisis. He maintained that the way forward lay in upholding the Constitution, respecting the public mandate and ending political victimisation.
He further claimed that Imran Khan was striving to safeguard the rights of the people and asserted that meaningful improvement in the country’s situation would remain difficult without his release.
The PTI Sindh president said the country’s challenges were deepening with each passing day and stressed that the time had come to move beyond political divisions and public resentment. He urged the authorities to make decisions in accordance with the aspirations of the people, constitutional principles and democratic norms, adding that Pakistan’s national interest required an end to what he described as the influence of incompetent and corrupt political leadership.
