As a significant step towards improving community safety, there is notable progress in advancing basic civil defense training in Sukkur, which is being promoted under the vision of “Safe Sukkur, Strong Pakistan.” This initiative is led by Deputy Commissioner and Controller of Civil Defense Sukkur Nadir Shehzad Khan and Deputy Chief Warden Dr. Saeed Awan, who are focused on equipping the public with essential emergency skills.
Dr. Saeed Awan met today with the President of the Sorath Memon Community, Haji Muhammad Javed Memon, to discuss the integration of civil defense training at the community level. During this meeting, Dr. Awan emphasized the importance of training in areas such as rescue operations, first aid, fire safety, and CPR. He stressed that these skills are crucial for effectively handling natural disasters, fires, and accidents.
The Civil Defense Department in Sukkur is actively working to extend this training to every neighborhood and institution. President Memon acknowledged the need for all Pakistanis to be familiar with these skills to protect lives and property during emergencies. He praised the department’s efforts to expand public awareness and training programs throughout the city and assured his community’s support for this purpose.
Several other officials also participated in this meeting, including Group Warden Muhammad Ahmed Sheikh and Post Warden Muhammad Ali, who are playing key roles in advancing these initiatives.
This collaborative effort is an important step in strengthening Sukkur’s resilience against emergencies, aiming to build a safer and more prepared community.
