Action initiated against officers negligent in school budget data, superintendent suspended

The School Education Department has suspended a senior official and initiated action against another after serious negligence was found in the data verification process for a key school budget program.

These disciplinary actions were taken on the instructions of Sindh Provincial Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah, after a preliminary report confirmed that unverified information for the nomination of school heads was submitted from the office of the Chief Monitoring Officer (CMO) in Khairpur.

According to the report, the superintendent of the CMO office Khairpur forwarded the data without proper verification. Consequently, the School Education and Literacy Department has suspended the superintendent and initiated formal proceedings against the CMO.

A statement from the Education Department termed the provision of unverified and misleading information as irresponsibility on the part of the officers involved.

The relevant authorities have been notified to conduct a full investigation into the matter. The case will be sent to higher authorities for further action according to established procedures.

Authorities have warned that any lapses found in the provision of data will result in action against all responsible parties, including the relevant directors, District Education Officers, and other Chief Monitoring Officers, as all budget-related data comes from these field offices.

The department has affirmed that it is seriously monitoring the verification process for the nomination of school heads, and has emphasized that the school-specific budget can only be utilized by officially nominated principals, headmasters, headmistresses, and in-charge headmasters.
