Additional burden being placed on Karachiites’ pockets through e-challans: Pakistan Sunni Tehreek

According to Pakistan Sunni Tehreek’s Central Secretary General, Sahibzada Allama Bilal Saleem Qadri Shami, the Sindh government’s new e-challan system is an “anti-people” measure that places an additional financial burden on citizens already troubled by inflation and unemployment.

Speaking to workers on Tuesday, Qadri stressed that the provincial administration must stop the “oppression and injustices” being committed against the city’s residents.

He highlighted that while Karachi serves as the country’s economic backbone, its population is deprived of basic necessities. “Citizens are facing severe problems with water, electricity, sanitation, and transport, while government representatives remain silent spectators,” Qadri said.

According to the Secretary General, the people of Karachi pay their taxes but only get problems in return. He painted a picture of a city where roads are dilapidated, streets have turned into garbage dumps, and clean drinking water is a rarity.

Qadri criticized the government for being more concerned with increasing its revenue than providing relief, accusing it of implementing anti-people policies. He also questioned the silence of other political parties that claim ownership of the “City of the Quaid,” calling their silence a “big question mark.”

He warned that the public’s patience has run out and further injustices will not be tolerated. Qadri demanded that the Sindh government take immediate practical steps to solve public issues, stop the oppression of the people in the name of e-challans, and provide genuine relief to the citizens.
