KARACHI:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh Vice President and Leader of Parliamentary Party in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh on Monday blamed that the ruling PPP wanted to raise a private militia in Sindh for staging gang wars and bloodbaths, and for this purpose, it was issuing arms licenses in wholesale fashion on political grounds.
In a statement, he said he had already written a letter to the home secretary Sindh that thousands of arms licenses had been issued to the persons who did not deserve them on merit. He said those licenses were issued without security clearance and police verification. He said: “We have asked the home secretary to provide us details about all arms licenses issued by the sitting provincial government since 2018.”
Sheikh further wrote that those new computerized arms licenses were issued on the recommendation of some elected members of the ruling Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP). “Moreover, such arms licenses are also issued on the recommendation of some unelected people like special assistances,” he further blamed.
