Adviser: (Negotiations underway with UK to bring Nawaz back: Shahzad Akbar)

ISLAMABAD:Adviser on Interior and Accountability Shahzad Akbar has said negotiations are continuing with Britain for the deportation of Nawaz Sharif to the country.

Addressing a news conference here on Wednesday, he said Pakistan has also written a letter to Britain for this purpose.

He said Nawaz Sharif is a convicted person and he had gone to Britain for medical treatment after giving an undertaking.

Shahzad Akbar said PML-N leader and former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar stood totally exposed in the recent BBC interview. He said the interview made it clear as to why Dar is an absconder and not appearing before the courts.

The Adviser on Interior rejected the assertion made by Ishaq Dar that he has only one property in Lahore. Sharing details of his properties, he said the former finance minister has properties in Pakistan as well as in Dubai.

He said the British authorities have also been requested for the extradition of Ishaq Dar.

He said the opposition parties have lost their relevance in the national politics and the PTI is the most popular party.

He said one saw its manifestation in the recent elections in Gilgit Baltistan.

He said people are also not attending the public gatherings of the opposition parties in large numbers. He said the opposition parties must act responsibly and stop playing with the lives of the people as the second wave of Covid-19 is proving to be more fatal.

In his remarks, Special Assistant on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill said the corrupt leaders sitting abroad should come back to the country and face the courts. He said these leaders plundered the national exchequer.
