Afshan Shahid and Rehan Akram declared winners in Karachi Turtle Beach Open Ranking Beach Tennis Championship

Iqra University’s Afshan Shahid and Rehan Akram won in their respective categories on Tuesday in the STA Turtle Beach Open Ranking Beach Tennis Championship 2026, which concluded successfully at Turtle Beach. The one-day event saw fierce competition among more than 40 players.

In the women’s open singles final, Afshan Shahid defeated Anusha Imran of Graceful Grammar School 5-3. In the men’s open final, Rehan Akram secured a decisive 5-2 victory against Eyan Isaji.

The championship was organized by the Karachi Tennis Association under the auspices of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) and the Sindh Tennis Association (STA).

A significant aspect of the tournament was the enthusiastic participation of local educational institutions. Twenty students from Graceful Grammar School and twenty students from Government Secondary School Manora, District Keamari, participated in the event.

Special equipment provided by the international manufacturer SANDEVER was used in the tournament. This equipment was received by the PTF through the Beach Tennis Department of the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

PTF Vice President Muhammad Khalid Rehmani thanked the ITF for its patronage and extended special thanks to Raisa Ashfaq for the venue management. The event director was Erum Bukhari, while M. Isaji served as the organizing secretary and Muhammad Saeed as the event coordinator.

Mr. Rehmani announced that the Sindh Tennis Association plans to hold another beach tennis championship in April 2026, after Eid. The next tournament will be held on the banks of the Indus River near Kotri Barrage and will be coordinated by Erum Bukhari.

The championship concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where National JTI Coordinator Hamid Niaz distributed trophies among the successful players.
