Agriculture University Teams Secure Top Honours in Provincial Quiz

Students from Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tandojam have distinguished themselves by clinching the top two positions in a recent inter-university quiz competition hosted at the varsity’s Department of Entomology.

The contest, organised under the auspices of the Entomological Society of Sindh to day, saw ten teams participate: six from SAU and four from the University of Sindh. The event fostered an intellectually engaging atmosphere.

Notable attendees included Professor Dr Abdul Mubeen Lodhi, Dean Faculty of Crop Protection; Dr Muhammad Ibrahim Khaskheli, Chairman Plant Pathology; Professor Dr Imtiaz Ahmed Nizamani, Chairman Plant Protection; and Dr Bhai Khan Solangi. Faculty members and a significant number of students were also present.

According to the official results, the SAU Master’s team, “Entomological Swarm”, comprising Sarmad Ali Koondhar, Aamir Ali Thebo, and Arshad Ali Lashari, achieved first place through a commendable performance.

The Bachelor’s final-year team from SAU, “Cerebrals” – consisting of Hussain, Hamadullah, and Makeesh – secured the second position. The University of Sindh team, “Firefly Thinkers”, represented by Ms Sundas and Ameen Ilyas Panhwar, claimed third place.

During the proceedings, Professor Abdul Mubeen Lodhi emphasised the critical role of such academic pursuits in enhancing students’ analytical capabilities and aiding their preparation for examinations.

Dr Bhai Khan Solangi added that inter-university initiatives foster academic collaboration, fortify student relationships, and encourage the exchange of knowledge.

The quiz was officially opened by Associate Professor Dr Irfan Ahmed Gilal. Contestants were assessed on a broad spectrum of subjects, including Islamic Studies, Pakistan Studies, general awareness, agriculture, and entomology.

At the conclusion of the event, accolades and certificates were presented to the victorious teams. Participants conveyed their appreciation for the undertaking and voiced optimism that similar academic endeavours would continue in the future.
