Islamabad: A delegation of Huawei Pakistan, led by CEO Ethan Sun, Director Subsidiary Board and Deputy CEO Ahmed Bilal Masood, and Vice CEO Yushaoning, met with Planning Minister Professor Ahsan Iqbal in his office on Monday. The meeting focused on Huawei’s latest digitization initiatives in Pakistan, particularly the proposal to transform Islamabad into a model smart city, emphasizing the importance of digital infrastructure for the new age economy.
According to Press Information Department, the delegates provided updates on their projects and various initiatives. The discussion included plans to digitize the education infrastructure and provide access to smart devices for students in underprivileged areas. Minister Iqbal highlighted ongoing education reforms, including the establishment of smart classrooms as a priority. Huawei officials informed the minister about their online Learning Management System, which will enable students nationwide to access new ICT courses.
The meeting also covered the E-government project, aimed at achieving a paperless government. Minister Iqbal praised Huawei’s efforts, stating, “Only a robust digital ecosystem of learning, innovation, and efficiency can make Pakistan capable of meeting 21st-century digital needs. Huawei’s collaboration to build a digital future for Pakistan is commendable.”
