Aleema Khan Summoned In 2024 Protest Case

Aleema Khan, sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has been summoned by an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi in connection with a protest case dating back to November 2024. The prosecution presented the charge sheet against her on Tuesday in the case registered at Sadiqabad Police Station. Judge Amjad Shah of the Anti-Terrorism Court ordered Khan to appear at the next hearing scheduled for September 29 and directed that she be provided with copies of the case documents.

The indictment accuses Khan of being the primary instigator, allegedly inciting party members to protest despite a November 21 Islamabad High Court order prohibiting demonstrations without permission. The prosecution argues that Khan encouraged supporters to participate in disruptive and violent protests despite the imposition of Section 144, restricting public gatherings.

The case originates from demonstrations held in November 2024, when PTI loyalists, spearheaded by former First Lady Bushra Bibi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, marched from Peshawar to Islamabad demanding Imran Khan’s freedom. On November 25, the procession reached Islamabad’s periphery, and the subsequent day witnessed violent confrontations with law enforcement, resulting in injuries to both protestors and officers.

Following the disturbances, multiple cases were filed against Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, Gandapur, several high-ranking PTI officials, and numerous party adherents in Islamabad and Rawalpindi police stations. The charges included terrorism and other offenses related to the unrest.
