LAHORE: The Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore was opened for landing and departure of planes on Wednesday afternoon after remaining closed for 10 hours due to heavy fog.
The Lahore Airport’s runway was shut down at 5:00 am due to thick foggy conditions with poor visibility. As the operations resumed, Turkish Airline’s flight TK-714 coming from Istanbul landed at the airport after it remained in the air for 90 minutes. Gulf Air’s flight GF-766 coming from Bahrain has touched down at the Lahore Airport. An AirBlue flight has taken off for Karachi.
Earlier, four flights including three international ones were not allowed to land at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport as dense fog reduced visibility at the runway. According to the TV channel, all the four planes were compelled to hover around the airport after permission for landing was refused.
The three international flights which were not permitted to touch down were: Fly Baghdad’s flight from IF-341 from Najaf to Lahore, flight XY-317 coming from Riyadh to Lahore and Saudi Airline’s flight SV-734 from Jeddah to Lahore. On the domestic front, an AirBlue’s flight coming from Karachi to Lahore PA-402 was also directed to stay away from the runway. Later, a few were diverted to Islamabad.
