Ambassador of Turkey courtesy call on Deputy Chairman Senate

Islamabad, October 02, 2019 (PPI-OT): Ambassador of Turkey H.E Mr Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul a courtesy call on Deputy Chairman Senate, Saleem Mandviwalla at Parliament House, Islamabad, on Wednesday and exchanged views over trade, investment and other issues of mutual interest. He acknowledged the support given by President Tayyip Erdogan on UNGA and other favours. Abrogation of Article 370 in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) and the resultant situation came under discussion as well.

The Ambassador of Turkey H.E Mr Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul, showed satisfaction over improving Parliamentary relations between Pakistan and Turkey and said that B2B level interactions must be encouraged. He expressed concern regarding issues of Turkish investors in Pakistan and said that these must be resolved to ensure increased trade and investment opportunities between the two countries. He was of the opinion that Turkish Airline flights from Pakistan must be doubled and that besides major cities; one flight must operate regularly from smaller urban settings as well.

Deputy Chairman Senate, Saleem Mandviwalla while discussing trade and investment opportunities with Turkey agreed that these must be increased. He said that he would do all in his power to support Turkish investment in Pakistan and make conditions feasible. Welcoming President Tayyip Erdogan’s upcoming visit to Pakistan on 23rd – 24th, October, Deputy Chairman Senate, Saleem Mandviwalla recommended that the visit would be more fruitful if accompanied by a business forum. He requested the opportunity to call on the Turkish President during the visit.

The Ambassador of Turkey H.E Mr Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul thanked the Deputy Chairman Senate for his hospitality and said that he looked forward to developing stronger links between the two countries. He welcomed Deputy Chairman Senate, Saleem Mandviwalla who would soon be attending a conference in Turkey and said that it would be a great opportunity to interact with the business community and enhance trade and investment ties.
