An exceptional unbeaten century from Fahad Ansari, complemented by a vital four-wicket haul from medium-pacer Asadullah Hamza, guided Medicam Group to a 26-run victory over Wing 999 in a crucial Group “A” encounter of the Wing 999 Inter Departmental Cricket League.
The triumph at the Eid Gah Ground in Korangi marked Medicam Group”s third consecutive win in the competition, according to a report today.
Batting first, Medicam Group amassed a formidable total of 306 for four in their allotted 40 overs. The innings was anchored by Fahad Ansari, who crafted a commanding 135 not out from 111 deliveries, a knock that included 15 fours and two sixes.
Ansari received substantial support from Taha Mehmood, who contributed a rapid 91, featuring six fours and five sixes. Useful scores from Afnan Khan (33) and Sheroze Siddiqui (23) further bolstered the total. For Wing 999, slow left-arm bowler Arif Khan was the most successful, claiming two wickets for 56 runs.
In response, Wing 999 mounted a spirited chase but were ultimately dismissed for 280 in 39.2 overs. Raza Chandio was their top scorer with a brisk 60, while significant contributions from Shah Raza (47), Arif Khan (42), Muhammad Afzal (41), and Usman Raheem (33) kept their side in the hunt.
However, the decisive performance with the ball came from Medicam Group”s Asadullah Hamza, whose impressive spell yielded four wickets for 47 runs, effectively derailing the run chase. Saim Ahmed remained not out on 20 when the final wicket fell.
The tournament is being organised by the Regional Cricket Association Karachi in collaboration with Wing 999 Sports.
