Anti-India protests in Brussels, London on Black Day

Brussels, October 28, 2019 (PPI-OT):Anti-India protest demonstrations were held in the European capitals, Brussels and London, to mark the 27th October, the day India occupied Jammu and Kashmir in 1947. A protest demonstration was organized by Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU) in front of the Indian Embassy in Brussels, the European headquarters. A memorandum was dropped at the Indian embassy asking New Delhi to terminate curfew, end brutalities against the Kashmiris, withdraw its forces from Kashmir and fulfil its promise for giving right of Self-determination to the people of Kashmir.

During the protest in Brussels, Kashmir Council EU Chairman, Ali Raza Syed, said, we demand New Delhi to end curfew in occupied Kashmir and free Kashmir and give right of self-determination to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He condemned firing of mortar shells by Indian border forces on the civilian population of Azad Kashmir (AJK). He also deplored termination of IOK Human Rights Commission.

Other speakers made it clear that Kashmiris are not ready to compromise on their right to self-determination. The protesters demanded of the world community to come forward and impress upon India to lift siege and stop violations of their basic rights in occupied Kashmir. Meanwhile, another protest demonstration was held at 10 Downing Street in London. The participants while submitting a memorandum at the Prime Minister office threw light on the fascist mind-set of Modi-led Indian government.

Being party to the Kashmir dispute, the speakers urged the British government to raise the issue with India bilaterally as well as at the UN Security Council to redress the difficulties being faced by the Kashmiri people. Public Accounts Committee Chairman of AJK Legislative Assembly, Abdur Rasheed Turabi and Raja Fahim Kayani were among those who addressed the gathering on the occasion.
