Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, chaired a high-level meeting focused on law and order today, highlighting zero tolerance for any negligence in maintaining security. The government prioritizes the safety of citizens’ lives and property and is committed to effectively dealing with criminal elements.
During the meeting attended by provincial ministers and senior officials, a significant reduction in crime across Sindh in the first half of 2026 was revealed. A comprehensive briefing indicated that intelligence-based policing and agency cooperation led to a 17.3% reduction in murder incidents and a 19.4% drop in robbery-related cases.
Chief Minister Shah emphasized the need to intensify intelligence-based operations against mobile phone snatching, even though overall street crime in Karachi has decreased by 11.77%. The city witnessed a 38.3% reduction in fatalities during robberies and a 24.3% decline in car-snatching incidents.
The crackdown on criminal gangs resulted in 2,184 police encounters, eliminating 187 dangerous criminals and dismantling over a thousand gangs. Anti-drug operations saw 9,096 arrests, with large quantities of drugs seized.
Efforts against extortionists marked an 81% case trace rate in Karachi, dismantling several groups. Anti-terrorism operations led to the arrest of 355 suspects, resulting in a 75% reduction in terrorism incidents.
In the Kacha areas, Operation Najat-e-Mehran killed 275 bandits, resulted in multiple arrests, and freed hostages, demonstrating significant progress against organized crime.
The security of Chinese citizens, particularly those associated with CPEC, was highlighted, with enhanced measures for their protection. The Sindh Safe Cities Project, with 1,325 cameras installed, proved significantly helpful in crime prevention and investigation.
The government also increased highway and border security, implemented digital monitoring systems, and increased patrolling, resulting in a significant reduction in traffic accidents and fatalities.
Chief Minister Shah instructed law enforcement agencies to strengthen border surveillance and leverage modern technology to maintain law and order across Sindh.
