Lahore, April 07, 2023 (PPI-OT): The 7th meeting of Punjab Environment Protection Council was held in the Chief Minister’s Office under the chairmanship of Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in which the Punjab Clean Air Policy was approved, while the comprehensive action plan of the relevant departments under the Punjab Clean Air Policy was also approved.
In the meeting, the action plans of the Department of Transport, Agriculture, Industry, Environment, Local Government, Housing, Urban Development, Energy, Labour and other related departments were approved.
The concerned departments will prepare a detailed working plan for the implementation of the Punjab Clean Air Policy. The Punjab Government will implement the Punjab Clean Air Policy and Action Plan with the support of the World Bank. The Punjab Plastic Management Strategy was also approved in the meeting. Immediate steps will be taken regarding recycling and reuse of plastic.
Modern technology will be introduced for recycling and reuse of plastic and incentives will also be given in this regard. Competency of concerned departments will be increased and vigorous awareness campaign will be conducted. Environment Secretary gave a briefing about the important features of Punjab Clean Air Policy and Punjab Plastic Management Strategy.
Chief Secretary, Secretaries Environment, Planning and Development Board, Irrigation, Specialized Health and Medical Education, Primary and Secondary Health, Housing, Industry, Forest, Local Government, DG Environment Protection Authority Punjab and related officials attended the meeting.
