Over 50 ten-foot-tall saplings were planted at the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi on Monday in collaboration with the Art Friend Circle. The plantation drive included a variety of saplings such as Gulmohar, Peepal, Neem, Chikoo, and Jackfruit.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Art Friend Circle founder Kausar Rizvi, Nafees Mohammad Ghouri, renowned poet Gul Afshan, and former Arts Council Executive Director Nadeem Zafar. Arts Council members Imran Aziz, Jaffer Aziz, Sheila Maeed, and Shagufta Maeed were also present. Administrative and Finance Manager Shahid Mohiuddin and Samiullah, Saqib, and other dignitaries also participated.

Resident Director Bashir Sadozai stated that this initiative is part of a larger project under the direction of Arts Council President Muhammad Ahmad Shah, aiming to plant over 200 fruit and flower saplings within the District Central Arts Council premises. So far, 100 saplings, including Neem trees, have been planted.

Sadozai encouraged citizens to improve the environment by planting fruit trees at the cultural center. He highlighted the expansive nature of the Arts Council complex and emphasized that more trees would benefit the entire area. He appealed to nearby residents, especially Arts Council students, to plant trees near their homes to combat the high temperatures of North Karachi.
