As per directions of IGP Punjab traffic police has launched a special campaign against smoke emitting vehicles for stopping Smog

Lahore, November 11, 2019 (PPI-OT): As per the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab captain retired Arif Nawaz, Punjab Police is taking actions against stopping of Smog and in this regard, Traffic Police with the cooperation of transport and environment protection department have formed special team s which have launched a special campaign from 04-10-2019 to 03-11-2019 for stopping smog.

During this campaign, strict actions have been taken against 29907 smoke emitting vehicles and fines amounting to 10428900 rupees have been imposed on these vehicles. Besides this, 3230 vehicles have been detained after declaring these vehicles unfit. As per directions of Addl IG traffic police Punjab Muhammad Farooq Mazhar, in order to keep the public aware of Smog, especial awareness campaign has been run through programs on radio 174, TV 204 programs.

Moreover, on 848 bus and truck terminals and 137 public places, traffic police officers have been educating drivers and public to avoid them from environmental pollution. Through this special campaign students of 782 educational institutions have been given awareness of saving themselves from the Smog. In this regard, 167 seminars and traffic walks on 221 places were held. Addl IG traffic Punjab has directed to all traffic officers to launch especial campaign and take strict legal actions against smoke and pollution emitting vehicles.

He further directed to traffic police officers that they should keep on the campaign of awareness of smog among masses through Radio, TV, cable, advertisements, banners on bus and truck terminals and other public places whereas lectures of traffic police teams should be conducted at colleges and schools with the cooperation of welfare organizations and institutions by holding seminars and awareness walks in order to keep the public aware of precautionary measures of smog so that people should be saved from dangerous effects of smog to the maximum limit.
