In an effort to align artistic training with contemporary needs, Punjab University’s Department of Fine Arts is showcasing student theses that emphasize the use of locally sourced materials, reflecting a push towards sustainability and resourcefulness in the creative sector.

According to the university statement today, the annual thesis exhibition for the BFA-2025 graduating class, which opened on Friday, features the culminating artworks of 54 students.

While interacting with the participants, PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali commended the students for their innovative concepts. He remarked that such activities are instrumental in enhancing students” confidence and affirmed that the university would maintain its role in promoting their creative abilities.

Dr Sumera Jawad, Chairperson of the Department of Fine Arts, stated that the exhibition”s objective is to prepare students according to the evolving demands of the time. She praised the students for presenting objects crafted from indigenous materials, calling the initiative commendable.

Dr Jawad also highlighted the department”s legacy, noting it has produced numerous renowned artists who are serving at national and international levels. The event was attended by Secretary Higher Education Department Punjab Ghulam Farid, faculty members, and students.
