Associate BS degree is fraud with students: SHC

KARACHI:The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday declared the associate BS degree a fraud with the students while hearing a case pertaining to recruitment of teachers on vacant posts in the Education Department of Sindh.

A two-member bench of the SHC, headed by Justice Salahuddin Pahnwar, heard a petition pertaining to the recruitment of teachers. The court ordered to make students aware of associate BS degree fraud.

The court ordered the relevant authorities to post penaflex and advertisements about the fraud of Associate BS degree.

“Advertisements should also be placed in colleges so that students can know about the degree,” the court ordered the secretary colleges.

If advertisements are not placed in a week, the contempt of court action will be taken against the secretary colleges, the court said.

At the next hearing, the secretary colleges will appear in person in the court and submit the report, the court ordered the secretary.

The court expressed concern over the future of thousands of children who were given admission for associate degree of BS. “Education department won’t even give jobs to associate degree students,” the court remarked.

Sindh government should make arrangements to rescue these children, as their future is being ruined, Justice Salahuddin Panhwar remarked. “This is a very dangerous situation,” the court observed. The First BSc was dismissed, now Associate BS has been introduced, which is a bigger issue, the court said. The court adjourned further hearing till January 28.
