ATC awards 32-year imprisonment to accused in kidnapping case

Karachi:An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday awarded a 32-year imprisonment to an accused, Mumtaz Ali, in a case pertaining to the kidnapping for ransom of two citizens from Wagan area of Larkana.

 

The ATC was hearing the case against the accused and announced the verdict of the case in the light of evidence. The court also sentenced four absconding accused to a 10-year imprisonment each. It imposed a fine of Rs0.2 million on all the culprits. The fugitive accused are Gul Bahadur Mugheri, Sikandar, Fauji Mugheri and Masti Mugheri.

 

The accused had abducted two citizens Mashooq and Mehtab from Wagon road in Larkana on February 8, 2011. They had demanded a ransom of Rs1 million from the families of the abducted citizens.

 

The court did not find any evidence of ransom demand from the families of the accused. Therefore, only the case of kidnapping against the accused was proved by the court. The case was transferred from ATC Court Larkana to Karachi on August 21, 2017 on the order of Sindh High Court.
