ATC grants interim bail to Jalal Shah, others in BTK arson case

KARACHI:An Anti-terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday granted bail for 20 days to leaders of Sindh Action Committee, a nationalist parties’ alliance, for a sum of Rs25, 000 each in June 6 act of arson in Bahria Town Karachi (BTK).

SAC leaders, including, Sayed Jalal Mehmood Shah, Dr Qadir Magsi, Aslam Khairpuri, advocate Sajjad Chandio and Jan Mohammad Junejo appeared before the ATC-2 Clifton branch after their protective bail, granted by Sindh High Court, expired.

The interim bail plea was heard by ATC-2 judge. A panel of lawyers’ headed by Sayed Ghullam Shah, Muhammad Khan Shaikh, Aqib Rajper, and Yousif Laghari were also present in the courtroom.

The court approved the interim bail pleas of all accused until 26 June for a sum of Rs25, 000 each.

The lawyers stated that as many as 30 FIRs were lodged against the applicants under various sections of Pakistan Penal Code and Section-7 of Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) at Gadap police station in Malir district after holding a peaceful protest outside BTK against its alleged illegal constriction on lands of indigenous people.
