Authorities urged to functionalize BHC’s Sibbi-Turbat benches

QUETTA:Qasim Khan Gagezai, Vice Chairman, Balochistan Bar Council, has said that in All Balochistan Wukala Numayendagan Conference held in Quetta under the auspices of Balochistan Bar Council, it had been decided that lawyers of Balochistan would take steps for the supremacy of constitution and law, and protection of the rights of lawyers.

Addressing a press conference at Quetta Press Club here on Saturday, he urged the authorities to functionalize Sibbi and Turbat benches of Balochistan High Court besides activating circuit benches of Loralai and Khuzdar. Gagezai said that 10 judges were serving in Balochistan High Court against 15 sanctioned posts, hence, he demanded that lawyers be considered for appointment against the vacant posts of Balochistan High Court purely on merit basis.

He said that lawyers be considered for appointment against the vacant positions of all tribunals falling within the purview of federation and provinces. Gagezai said that proper representation had not been given to Balochistan in the Supreme Court of Pakistan since the establishment of apex court. He said that problems being faced by lawyers of the province had time and again been brought into the notice of Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan and other concerned authorities, but so far no action had been taken. He added that if demands of the legal fraternity were not entertained, Bar bodies would be compelled to protest.

Ayub Tareen Advocate, Rahib Khan Buledi Advocate, Amanullah Kakar Advocate, Mehrab Gichki Advocate and Muneer Ahmed Khan Kakar Advocate were also present on the occasion.
