The workers of the Baloch Yekjehti Committee (BYC) faced a setback on Friday as police intervened to prevent the establishment of a protest camp outside the Quetta Press Club.
The demonstration aimed to highlight the arrest of BYC leaders, including Dr Mahrang Baloch. The protest, involving both male and female participants, was organized to demand the release of several detained BYC leaders and political activists.
These include Dr Mahrang Baloch, Shibghatillah Shah Jee, Beburg Baloch, Gulzari Baloch, and Bebu Baloch, among others. A significant police presence, led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police and Station House Officer of City Quetta, quickly responded to the scene and halted the protesters’ efforts.
Nadia Baloch Advocate, the sister of Dr Mahrang Baloch, conveyed that the intended protest camp was meant to draw attention to issues of state oppression, the release of Baloch political workers, and human rights violations in Balochistan.
