Balochistan is currently in the grip of a severe cold wave, with the mercury dropping to an extreme low of -8.0°C in Kalat over the past 24 hours.
According to a report from the regional Meteorological Department on Friday, the forecast for the next 48 hours indicates that the intensely cold and dry conditions will persist across most of the province. Temperatures are predicted to remain below freezing during the evening and night in several districts, including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Mastung, Zhob, and Kalat.
A review of the preceding 24 hours shows that weather remained dry and cold throughout most districts, becoming particularly harsh in the northwestern parts of the province at night. No rainfall was recorded anywhere in the region during this period.
Specific temperature readings highlight the stark contrasts across Balochistan. While Kalat registered the province”s lowest temperature, several parts of Quetta also experienced sub-zero conditions, with Samungli recording -4.0°C. In contrast, coastal areas remained significantly warmer, with Uthal recording a maximum temperature of 30.0°C.
