BEWGA employees injured in tear gas and baton-charge

QUETTA: Five employees of BEWGA sustained injuries after police shelled tear gas and baton-charged them on Tuesday near the office of Commissioner Quetta division on Tuesday.

 

According to detail, Balochistan Employees and Workers Grand Alliance (BEWGA) rallied towards Red Zone area, demanding 25 percent increase in their salaries, however, police stopped the rally near the office of Commissioner Quetta Division. Upon resistance of the employees to proceed further to Red Zone, police resorted to lathi charge and shelling of tear gas, injuring five employees. Later, BEWGA staged a protest sit-in outside the office of Commissioner Quetta Division, closing the Anscomb Road for all kind of traffic.
