Business and Finance – Balochistan Revenue Authority Issues Stern Warning to Property Sector Over New Tax Compliance

The Balochistan Revenue Authority (BRA) today issued a stern directive to the real estate sector, warning that individuals and businesses failing to comply with new tax regulations will face significant penalties and potential legal proceedings.

According to a notification from the authority today, a 5% sales tax is now compulsory on all services connected with the purchase, sale, or rental of immovable property. This imposition is mandated under the Balochistan Sales Tax on Services (BSTS) Act 2015, as updated by the Finance Act 2025.

The directive explicitly requires all real estate agents, property dealers, and associated service providers to immediately complete their registration with the BRA. Furthermore, they are obligated to submit tax returns for every tax period within the stipulated deadline and ensure the remittance of the tax at the prescribed rate.

The revenue authority has cautioned that non-compliance, including failure to register, remit tax dues, or file returns punctually, will trigger punitive measures as stipulated in the BSTS Act 2015. The BRA has strongly encouraged all concerned parties to adhere to the tax laws to prevent legal entanglements and financial penalties.
