Business Group Demands Urgent Aid for Gul Plaza Victims

The United Business Group (UBG) on Sunday described the Gul Plaza fire incident as a great tragedy, citing a lack of timely action and calling for immediate government intervention.

Zubair Tufail, President of the UBG, in a statement expressed grave concern over the repeating occurrence of such destructive blazes in the city, highlighting the heavy financial and human losses from this latest incident.

Tufail demanded that the Sindh government provide immediate financial compensation to the affected shopkeepers and citizens. He stressed that these entrepreneurs have lost businesses established through years of hard work and that their rehabilitation is a government responsibility.

The UBG President further urged that assistance be provided swiftly to allow the affected traders to resume their commercial activities before the upcoming Eid festival.

Tufail also called for a comprehensive overhaul of safety protocols, emphasising that a strict implementation of fire safety legislation is essential. He advocated for a fresh review of safety arrangements in all commercial buildings to better protect the lives and property of citizens.

The entire leadership of the United Business Group stands in solidarity with the bereaved families. It has demanded that both federal and provincial authorities ensure superior medical facilities for the injured. Tufail extended his heartfelt sympathy to the families of the deceased and prayed for the speedy recovery of those wounded in the blaze.
