Karachi:The traders’ community has been assuaged by the top Sindh government officials regarding the difficulties they have been facing due to lockdown in the city. Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani and Murtaza Wahab, Adviser to Chief Minister of Sindh on Law, Anti-Corruption Establishment, and information met representatives of Karachi traders’ community along with Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani, Additional IG, DC South and other top officials.
“We very well the difficulties businesses have been facing in the city but the present circumstances we cannot afford to see a surge among coronavirus patients,” Saeed Ghani said on the occasion. Saeed Ghani thanked the traders for postponing their plans to open up businesses on Sindh Government request for two days and today (Thursday) gave their recommendations how to tackle the issues arising due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“I assure you that we will put your recommendations to task force formed by CM Sindh. And if needed, we will arrange a meeting of traders with CM Sindh in a day or two,” he said. Saeed Ghani went on to say that the focus of the government is to restrict coronavirus from spreading because if the virus spreads, they will not be able to control it.
He said that the recommendations from traders to let start online businesses; opening markets for two or three days in a week along with SOPs; shops of every sector should be let open one-day in a week will be forwarded to task force, which has experts from all areas in its fold.
Jameel Paracha, representative from traders’ community, requested Sindh Government to establish SOPs to open business centers for few hours. Another trader Sharjeel Gopalani complained about K-Electric, which has not been following government orders of not cutting electricity if bills were not paid.
