Mega Motor Company (MMC), the local partner for BYD, has entered a formal partnership with the Karachi Marathon 2026, providing significant backing for the nation’s inaugural World Athletics-Certified marathon and an initiative aimed at preparing athletes for the Olympic Games.
According to information today, the strategic collaboration was finalized at a signing ceremony at the BYD Pakistan Experience center, attended by executives from MMC, BYD, and the marathon”s organizing committee.
Under the agreement, MMC will provide support through brand visibility, sponsorship of athletes, and various mobility-led programs. These efforts are designed to elevate Pakistan’s standing within the international running community. Former cricket captain Misbah-ul-Haq was also present at the event.
The BYD SHARK 6 has been designated the official “timer car” for the 2026 race. The vehicle will lead the runners along the course, serving as a symbol of precision timing for the major athletic event.
This partnership directly supports “Vision 2032,” a long-term initiative focused on helping Pakistani athletes qualify for major international marathons and the Olympics. The Karachi Marathon 2026 is positioned as a key event in this initiative, attracting both domestic and international competitors.
Danish Khaliq, Vice President of Sales and Strategy at MMC, stated that the company’s vision extends to fostering a sustainable lifestyle and building communities. “Supporting the BYD Karachi Marathon aligns seamlessly with this vision,” he said, adding, “MMC is proud to sponsor two of Pakistan’s top marathon runners, providing them the opportunity to compete on the international stage ahead of Karachi Marathon 2026.”
Lei Jian, Country Manager for BYD Pakistan, connected the collaboration to the company”s global mission of promoting green mobility and sustainability. “The Karachi Marathon represents endurance, collective spirit and positive energy – values that align closely with BYD’s mission. With this joint effort, we aim to inspire a movement that is both healthy and sustainable,” Jian remarked.
A representative for the Karachi Marathon affirmed the importance of the alliance, noting, “A key pillar of Vision 2032 is to create real opportunities for Pakistan’s best runners to qualify for global marathons and BYD’s partnership is directly contributing to this journey by turning that ambition into measurable progress.”
Following this agreement, BYD and MMC will commence joint promotional activities with the marathon organizers leading up to the 2026 event. The move continues the company’s engagement with national sports, which previously included a partnership with the HBL PSL cricket tournament.
