Capital on High Alert as Over 3,500 Police Deployed for Religious Gatherings

Authorities today placed the capital on high alert, deploying a significant force of more than 3,500 police officers and personnel to safeguard Friday prayer congregations and Youm-e-Quds processions across the city.

The move comes following special directives from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, to ensure foolproof security arrangements.

A comprehensive security plan has been implemented, with stringent measures enforced around all masjids and Imambargahs, including the prominent Faisal Masjid.

The city”s top police official, IGP Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, personally reviewed the protective protocols alongside senior officers. During his inspection, he met with deployed force members, instructing them to carry out their responsibilities with vigilance and commitment.

In a statement, the IGP confirmed that screening procedures have been intensified at all entry and exit points of the city. He noted the establishment of special checkpoints at various strategic locations and confirmed that police units are conducting active patrols throughout the municipal area.

The Inspector General affirmed that the foremost priority for the Islamabad Police is to guarantee the protection of life and property for all residents.

The police administration has issued an appeal to the public, requesting their cooperation with on-duty law enforcement officers. Residents are urged to report any suspicious individuals or activities immediately by contacting the Islamabad Police helpline, ‘Pucar 15.’
