Authorities on Sunday claimed to have taken 23 suspicious individuals into custody and impounded 27 motorbikes and four vehicles following extensive security sweeps conducted across several jurisdictions of the federal capital.
These measures are part of a special initiative, implemented on the directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, aimed at curbing criminal activities and reinforcing the safety and security of the city.
The large-scale search and combing initiatives are being carried out on a regular basis in different parts of Islamabad to disrupt illicit activities.
In the latest series of raids, operations were executed within the jurisdictions of the Lohi Bher, Bani Gala, and Tarnol police stations, all under the direct supervision of zonal SPs.
During the course of these inspections, law enforcement personnel thoroughly scrutinised 277 individuals, 200 houses, 30 shops, 116 motorcycles, and 39 vehicles. The individuals and vehicles deemed suspicious were subsequently transferred to police stations for formal legal proceedings.
SSP Investigation Islamabad, Muhammad Usman Tariq Butt, emphasised that the primary objective of these operations is to tighten the security cordon around criminal elements and to fortify the city’s overall security framework.
He affirmed that the Islamabad Police will persist with indiscriminate actions against criminals, land grabbers, and drug traffickers.
The SSP also urged citizens to cooperate with the police and to promptly report any questionable activity to their nearest police station or via the “Pucar-15” emergency helpline.
