Captain Colonel Sher Khan Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider’s 27th Martyrdom Anniversary Observed

The 27th martyrdom anniversary of Captain Colonel Sher Khan, holder of Pakistan’s highest military award, Nishan-e-Haider, was observed today with reverence and respect. Due to his extraordinary bravery during the Kargil War, Captain Colonel Sher Khan’s legacy continues to inspire the nation.

Born in 1970 in Swabi District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Captain Colonel Sher Khan displayed remarkable courage during the 1999 Kargil War. At a perilous altitude of 17,000 feet in the Gultari region, he defended five strategic outposts, inflicted heavy losses on opposing forces, and was martyred.

In memory of his sacrifice, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid glowing tributes to Captain Colonel Sher Khan’s bravery and determination. President Zardari termed his sacrifice a shining chapter in the nation’s history, while Prime Minister Sharif said in a message that his loyalty and the eternal legacy of duty deeply root in the hearts of the Pakistani people.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a statement declaring Captain Colonel Sher Khan’s eternal sacrifice as a symbol of bravery and patriotism. The Armed Forces and Services Chiefs paid tribute to his determination, acknowledging his unwavering commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Commemorating Captain Colonel Sher Khan’s martyrdom day reaffirms the commitment of the people and the Armed Forces to uphold the high ideals for which he gave his life.
