Property Registration Related Services To Be Launched In All E-Khidmat Centers Across Punjab: PITB Signs MoUs with BOR and PLRA

Lahore, December 01, 2020 (PPI-OT): Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has signed two separate MoUs with the Board of Revenue (BOR) and Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA). As per the MoUs, PITB will facilitate in initiating a number of their services, including Registry and Mutation, at ten eKhidmat Maraakaz across Punjab.

Senior Member Board of Revenue Punjab (SMBR) Babar Hayat Tarrar, Chairman PITB Azfar Manzoor, Director IT PLRA Osama Bin Saeed, Director Land Record BOR Nadeem Abbas Bhango, PITB DG e-Governance Sajid Latif, PITB ADG CFS Muhammad Waseem Bhatti and other senior officials were present at the ceremony.

Presenting PITB DG-e Governance Sajid Latif signed the MoUs with Director IT PLRA Osama Bin Saeed and Director Land Record BOR Nadeem Abbas Bhango respectively. While briefing the media, SMBR Babar Hayat Tarar said that in few weeks, citizens will be able to obtain property registries under one window operation at e-Khidmat Maraakaz.

Acquiring stamp papers, submission and approval of Property registries, and mutation processes will also be made possible through this initiative under one roof and process will now be completed in a matter of hours. SMBR Babar Hayat Tarar also mentioned that this initiative will not only facilitate the citizens but will also elevate the ranking of Pakistan in World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business. CM Punjab Usman Buzdar will officially launch the services offered through this initiative in the coming weeks, he informed.

Secretary/Chairman Railways calls on Chairman PBIT

Lahore, November 25, 2020 (PPI-OT): Mr. Habib-Ur-Rehman Gillani, Secretary/Chairman Railways called on Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan Chairman PBIT and Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab on affairs related to Business, Investment and Trade, to discuss Punjab’s investment potential, available opportunities of investments for domestic and foreign businesses and mutual avenues of collaboration.

National Technology Council Committed to Improving Quality of Technology Education

Islamabad, October 28, 2020 (PPI-OT):The National Technology Council (NTC) is committed to working for the betterment of engineering technologists and improving the overall standards of technology education and curriculum in the light of contemporary challenges. This was stated by Chairman NTC Imtiaz Gilani while chairing the 6th NTC meeting held at the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Chairman HEC Tariq Banuri also attended the meeting through video link. The meeting was also attended by newly appointed members, including Vice Chairman Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar and other ex-officio members.

The Chairman NTC said that the significant issues of engineering technologists needing immediate attention include approval of their service structure. “The service structure needs to be based on a vertical growth, opportunities to compete for research, and technologically oriented positions in the country, including entrepreneurship in technologies relevant domains.”

The NTC meeting participants appreciated HEC’s initiative for announcement of 200 scholarships for technologists. They took important decisions with regard to streamlining academic and governance activities at NTC. A committee was constituted to make the technology education in line with the HEC’s Undergraduate Education Policy 2020. It was also decided to recommend the inclusion of one representative of technologist associations as the Council Member. “If the associations fail to recommend one person and give more than one name, the Chairman NTC may appoint the most competent and well-versed nominee as Member.”

With a realisation that the engineering technologists are not getting due recognition in Pakistan as compared to the developed world, where technologists have an edge of practical hands-on approach to problem-solving, the NTC Chairman and members expressed a resolve to take tangible measures for betterment of engineering technologists in the country. The meeting concluded with a resolve that NTC must go with its broader dimensions in emerging technologies benefitting humanity and boosting the national economy.

PTA Asks Twitter To Take Immediate Action Against Accounts Spreading False Information Against Pakistan

Islamabad, October 22, 2020 (PPI-OT):Islamabad (October 22, 2020) Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has approached Twitter administration to immediately sensitize its moderation teams and ensure that the platform is not used as a propaganda tool for spreading fake information.

In the wake of current smear campaign of spreading false and baseless information targeting Pakistan, its cities and institutions, PTA has stressed upon Twitter to effectively block handles involved in the campaign. To the disappointment of the Regulator, number of accounts involved in propagation of untrue stories, are Twitter verified. However, they are still operating with immunity. PTA has asked the platform to take immediate action against such accounts as per its guidelines and policies.

PTA Launches Online Portal for I.P Whitelisting and VPN Registration

Islamabad, October 21, 2020 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has introduced online portal for IP Whitelisting and VPN registration, for the facilitation of businesses and freelancers. Now Call Centers, companies and freelancers having at least one static IP address and verification letter from their business concerns, can submit their applications for registration at https://ipregistration.pta.gov.pk/.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority conditionally restores Tiktok services

Islamabad, October 20, 2020 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) has restored TikTok services with certain conditions. In view of the presence of vulgar, indecent/immoral content on the platform and its negative effects on the society, PTA has been continuously asserting TikTok to prevent its platform from disseminating the unlawful content. However, TikTok couldn’t satisfy the for taking concrete steps for blocking and removal of unlawful content. Hence, the TikTok application was blocked until a satisfactory content monitoring mechanism is put in place.

As a result of continuous engagement with the platform’s senior management before and after imposition of the ban, TikTok has assured moderating content in accordance with societal norms and the laws of Pakistan and ensured that the users who are continuously involved in uploading unlawful content are blocked from the platform.

PTA, as a facilitator to the users’ healthy digital experience on the internet and growth of digital companies, has therefore, decided to lift the ban. However, the restoration of TikTok services is strictly subject to the condition that the platform will not be used for the spread of vulgarity / indecent content and that the societal values will not be abused. PTA will be constrained to permanently block the application, in case the said condition is not fulfilled.
