Two army soldiers martyred in gunbattle

Rawalpindi:Two army soldiers were martyred during a gunbattle with terrorists in Balochistan’s Kech district of Balochistan, said Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday.

According to an ISPR statement today morning, the terrorists targeted a checkpost of the security forces in the Kech district of Balochistan. The attack prompted quick retaliation from the personnel of the security forces and in the ensuing firefight, two soldiers were martyred.

According to the ISPR, during the exchange of fire, Lance Naik Manzar Abbas, resident of district Khushab and sepoy Abdul Fath, resident of Khuzdar embraced martyrdom. A follow-operation has been launched in the Kech District to hunt down the fleeing terrorists.

The ISPR statement said security forces were determined to defeat such acts of inimical elements, aimed at disrupting peace, stability and progress of the Balochistan province.

It may be noted that according to police, a day earlier, three people were injured in a grenade attack in Khuzdar. Police said a hand grenade was tossed at a petrol pump in Wadh Bazaar, as a result of which three people got injured.

Earthquake with magnitude 4.2 hits Swat

Swat:An earthquake with a magnitude 4.2 hit Swat and other areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Friday afternoon. No causality was reported till filing this news.

The National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) confirmed that the quake with an intensity of 4.3 on Richter Scale hit Swat and its adjoining areas, sending people fleeing their homes in panic.

The quake had a depth of 226 kilometres with the epicentre in the Hindu Kush mountain range, the monitoring centre said.

Earlier this week, an earthquake with a magnitude 3.5 jolted Balochistan’s Awaran and adjoining areas.

According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the epicenter of the earthquake was located southwest of Awaran some 55 kilometres away at the depth of 25 kilometres.

Mengal says Balochistan issue is a political one

Khuzdar:Leader of Balochistan National Party (Mengal), Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal, has said that the issue of Balochistan was not tribal rather it was a political issue, adding, “We are waging political and democratic struggle for our rights which will continue till the objectives are achieved”.

Addressing a public meeting in Tehsil Saruna of District Khuzdar here on Friday, he said that people of Balochistan had been deprived of their rights basic rights whilst on the other hand it was being conspired to fan tribal enmities in the province so that people might not pay heed to their basic rights. Mengal said that Balochistan was replete with mineral resources, but unluckily people of Balochistan were living in stone age.

He added that government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had bankrupted Pakistan, adding that skyrocketing inflation was rapidly swallowing poor people of the country. He said the issue of Balochistan was not tribal, rather it was a political issue, adding, “We are waging political and democratic struggle for our rights which will continue till the objective are achieved”.

Private Schools barred from receiving Annual, Admission Fees, decides PHC

PESHAWAR:Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday upheld a decision against payment of admission and annual fees to private schools in the province, ARY NEWS reported.

A high court bench headed by Chief Justice PHC while issuing a written verdict in the case ordered the private schools’ regulatory authority to convey the decision to the educational institutions via a handout. The decision cited remarks from the authority that conveyed that the KP government has already decided against receiving annual fees from private schools.

Protesters demand additional DRA allowance for Noshki employees

NOSHKI:A protest demonstration under the aegis of Muttahida Labour Federation, Noshki was held on Thursday outside Municipal Committee, Noshki, demanding grant of additional DRA allowance for the employees of Municipal Committee, Noshki, regularize the services of daily wages employees and fix twenty thousand rupees per month for the daily-wage-employees of Municipal Committee, Noshki.

Addressing the protest demonstration, speakers said that the employees of Municipal Committees and Municipal Corporations of Balochistan were not being paid additional DRA allowance whilst the employees of other Departments were drawing the said allowance. They said that daily wage employees of MC, Noshki were receiving only seven thousand rupees per month. They called on authorities to grant additional DRA allowance, regularize the services of daily wage employees and fix Rs. 20000 per month for daily wage employees of Municipal Committee, Noshki.

COAS visits LOC areas; Indian troops launch massive cordon, search operations

RAWALPINDI:Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa Thursday visited forward areas along the Line of Control (LOC).

According to a statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations, COAS was briefed on ground situation along the LOC and operational preparedness of the formation. COAS interacted with the troops deployed along LOC in Kot Kotera Sector.

COAS appreciated their combat readiness and high state of morale. Continuous vigil and readiness to counter all threats and contingencies is vital for ensuring security along the LOC, COAS emphasized. Earlier, on arrival at LOC, COAS was received by Corps Comd Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza.

Separately, according to a Kashmir Media Service report, Indian troops launched massive cordon and search operations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s different areas of Srinagar and other districts, subjecting the local residents to immense inconvenience in biting cold, according to.

The troops during cordon and search operations in various areas of Srinagar, Kupwara, Baramulla, Islamabad and Pulwama districts forced the people to come out of their homes and made them to stay in open for hours in severe cold. The residents told media that the troops barged into residential houses, misbehaved with women and intimidated the inmates. The locals of Kralgund area of Kupwara said that the Indian soldiers looted the houses and also took away the gold ornaments of a family. Pertinently, IIOJK is passing through Chilai Kalan, the 40-day harshest winter period, which will conclude on January end.

Meanwhile, the families of three persons illegally detained by Indian police from Bandipora town in October, this year, staged a protest demonstration at the Press Enclave in Srinagar, demanding their immediate release. They were later booked under draconian law, Public Safety Act.

Hurriyat leader and the Chairman of Islami Tanzeem-e-Azadi Jammu and Kashmir, Abdul Samad Inqilabi, in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the permanent peace in the world cannot be established without resolving the Kashmir dispute by giving the Kashmiris their right to self-determination.

On the other hand, a Delhi court extended the judicial remand of noted Kashmiri human rights defender, Khurram Parvez, till January 21, 2022. He was arrested by Indian’s notorious National Investigation Agency after raiding his residence and office in Srinagar on November 22 and was later booked under draconian law, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. A group of independent UN human rights experts and the Asian Federation Against Involuntary Disappearances have demanded immediate release of Khurram Parvez.

A series of incendiary video clips have surfaced on social media showing prominent Hindutva figures giving genocidal speeches targeting Muslims. The speakers including serial offender and controversial Hindu priest, Yati Narsighan and Saraswati, Sagar Sindhuraj Maharaj, Annapurna Maa, Dharamdas Maharaj and Anand Swaroop Maharaj were addressing a three-day hate speech conclave held from 17 to 19 December in Haridwar city of the Indian state of Uttrakhand. The speakers can be seen openly giving calls to kill members of Muslim community and attack their places of worship.
