Civilian killings, shifting of Aasiay Andrabi to Delhi denounced

July 10, 2018

Srinagar, July 10, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League, Muslim League, Voice of Victims and other Hurriyat organizations have condemned the civilian killings in Kulgam as well as arrest and shifting of Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chief, Aasiya Andrabi, and her associates to New Delhi.

The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League Chairman, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, addressing party members in Srinagar said that Indian forces had been given a license to kill the innocent and unarmed Kashmiri people. He strongly condemned the arrest and shifting of Aasiya Andrabi and her two associates, Nahida Nasreen and Fehmeeda Sofi to New Delhi.

The Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League in a statement in Srinagar condemned the civilian killings in Kulgam. The party termed the arrest and shifting of Aasiya Andrabi, Nahida Nasreen and Fahmeeda Sofi to Delhi’s notorious Tihar jail, as the worst form of state terrorism and human rights violation. “By Shifting the women leader to Tihar Jail India wants to force the freedom-loving people of Kashmir and their leaders into submission,” the party said.

The Voice of Victims, a local human rights group based in Kashmir, in a statement while condemning the civilian killings at the hands of Indian forces in Kulgam district said India has adopted a policy to fire and to kill in the territory. VoV Executive Director Abdul Qadeer demanded an impartial investigation into the killings. He also condemned the shifting of Aasiya Andrabi and her aides to Tihar jail by National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Abdul Qadeer appealed to the international community to take cognizance of the appalling situation and Indian state terrorism in occupied Kashmir. Meanwhile, Indian police foiled a protest march outside DIG South Kashmir’s office led by Awami Ittehad Party President, Engineer Abdur Rasheed, against Kulgam killings and highhandedness of Indian forces in south Kashmir. Engineer Rasheed was arrested by the police when he was on way to Islamabad town.
