A cold and dry weather wave is likely to persist in most parts of the country, according to the forecast made today by the Meteorological Department, dense fog and smog are expected to prevail in the plain areas of Punjab, upper Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Temperatures recorded in the morning in major urban centers highlighted the intensity of the nationwide cold. The capital Islamabad recorded seven degrees Celsius, Lahore fourteen and Karachi fifteen degrees. Other major cities like Peshawar had a temperature of ten degrees and Quetta six degrees.
Conditions in the northern areas remained colder, Gilgit and Murree both had a temperature of four degrees Celsius. Muzaffarabad recorded a temperature of five degrees.
