Cold wave across the country: Temperatures drop below freezing, fog alert issued

Most parts of the country are in the grip of a severe cold wave, with temperatures in Gilgit dropping to minus six degrees.

According to the latest forecast issued by the Meteorological Department today, it is predicted that the weather will remain cold and dry in most parts of the country.

The weather is expected to be severely cold in mountainous areas, with severe cold expected especially during the morning and night hours.

Authorities have also issued an advisory for possible smog and fog, which may occur in some plain areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the morning and night hours.

This morning in major urban centers, the temperature was recorded at four degrees Celsius in Islamabad and Peshawar, ten in Lahore, and fifteen in Karachi. In contrast, it was minus three in Quetta, two in Murree, and three in Muzaffarabad.
