A condolence reference was held today at Government Islamia Degree College Badin to remember the deep and lasting impact of former Sindh University Vice Chancellor Mazhar-ul-Haq Siddiqui on providing higher education to the underprivileged classes.
The gathering was attended by a large number of teachers and students, in which tributes were paid by the college Principal Professor Khadim Makhdoom, as well as Professor Abdullah Mallah and Professor Abdul Ghani Gopang.
The speakers at the event described the late educationist as a scholar, an enlightened and sincere educational leader, and a notable philanthropist.
The central point of the tributes was the establishment of the Sindh University Laar Campus in Badin, in which Mr. Siddiqui played a key role. This initiative was described as a great service to the people of the Laar region, a legacy for which he will always be remembered.
It was stated that since the establishment of the campus, hundreds of young boys and girls from poor and middle-class families have received a university-level education, many of whom later succeeded in obtaining respectable employment.
The speakers expressed the shared hope that this campus would eventually become a full-fledged university, ensuring that the services of its founders are remembered with honor and respect by future generations.
The services of Dr. Abdul Jabbar Junejo, Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, and Professor Abdullah Mallah were also acknowledged, and the speakers said that their joint efforts were crucial in establishing the institution on a solid foundation and setting it on the path of progress.
