KARACHI:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central Vice President Haleem Adil Sheikh has said that a continuous lockdown in Sindh is no solution to coronavirus, as people are now also dying from hunger.
Talking to media during his visit, as PTI focal person for relief activities in Sindh, at Tando Allahyar, Mirpurkhas, Jam Nawaz Ali, Sanghar, and Shahdadpur where he reviewed the arrangements at centers for distribution of Rs12000 per family under the Ehsaas cash emergency program, he said the chief minister of Sindh was just delivering sermons and doing dramas.
He said the Ehsaas program was the biggest welfare program in this history of Pakistan under which till today more than Rs22 billion had been distributed amongst 5,400,000 families by the federal government. He said the federal government had already distributed Rs22 billion in Sindh and distribution of this cash assistance was still underway.
He said the chief minister of Sindh wanted that either cash was given to him or relief work be ended. He said the chief minister is least concerned about the problems of poor masses. He said pockets of his ministers and advisors are already stuffed and they do not care about the sufferings of the poor masses.
Haleem Adil said the Sindh government claimed to distribute ration but no one knows to whom it was given. He said now the Sindh chief minister feels that his politics is at the stake and his popularity dwindling sharply. He said the Prime Minister of Pakistan gave relief of Rs144billion to the poor masses.
He said the PTI government is also fully providing relief to the Sindh government. He said making proper arrangements at cash distribution centers in Sindh is the responsibility of the provincial government. He said Sania Nishter would not come here to ensure people are standing properly in the queues but it is the responsibility of the Sindh government. He said the federal government has already sent more than 70000 coronavirus testing kits to Sindh, beside other relief and medical goods but the Sindh government is still not happy with the Center.
He said the Sindh government has failed to improve conditions of even coronavirus wards in government hospitals where cats are seen roaming freely. He said the infection is spreading due to the negligence of the provincial government in Sindh. He said a continuous lockdown is no solution to this issue as people are also dying from hunger. He said we wanted to find a smart solution to this complex problem, but the Sindh chief minister did not budge.
He said the Sindh government has announced to give ration to 2 million families and now it is saying that ration is given to 300000 families only. He said there are complaints that expired ration items are being given to people, which means that the Sindh government has also done corruption in ration distribution.
