Coronavirus cases would increase in May: Sindh Health Minister

Karachi, April 22, 2020 (PPI-OT): Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho said on Wednesday that coronavirus cases would increase in May and there was dire need to implement social distancing and lockdown in the Sindh province. In a statement, she said any kind of relaxation in lockdown could cause further spread of viral infection. She informed that the capacity of beds in field hospitals had increased to 5,000 and it would be raised to 11,000 in the future.

 

She said that bed capacity in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) would be increased from 500 to 1,000. Similarly, capacity in ICU will be enhanced from 300 to 600 very soon in the province. She said NDMA had donated two PCR machines. The minister said more than 3,000 coronavirus cases had been reported in Sindh so far with 2.2 percent death ratio.
