Court Issues Sixth Arrest Warrant for Aleema Khan; Special Police Team Formed to Enforce Order

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) issued a sixth arrest warrant on Tuesday for Aleema Khan, the sister of former prime minister Imran Khan, escalating legal pressure in a case linked to the November 26, 2024 protests, as authorities confirmed a special police unit has been established to ensure her compliance.

In response to the judicial directive, a specially constituted team has been created to execute the court’s mandate. Police officials stated that the unit, led by SDPO City Azhar Shah, is expected to proceed to Adiala Jail shortly to carry out the arrest or serve the warrant.

Speaking to journalists outside the Islamabad High Court, Ms. Khan remained defiant, dismissing the threat of detention. “We will even give our lives but we will fight for Imran Khan,” she declared, challenging officials to explain the basis for the repeated legal actions against her.

Ms. Khan asserted her readiness for incarceration, remarking that if authorities believe jailing her will stop the mobilization of her party’s message, “we are ready.” She accused the government of acting out of fear of her brother and attempting to silence supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). She also revealed she had been previously warned of detention if she appeared in court.

Court records indicate that during a prior hearing on October 30, the ATC was presented with reports confirming that Aleema Khan’s national identity documents and passport had been blocked.

This latest development is part of a continuing series of legal proceedings and warrants targeting PTI leadership and their supporters in cases stemming from the widespread demonstrations that occurred last year.
