An Islamabad Sessions Court ordered the arrest of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Wednesday in a case involving the alleged discovery of illegal weapons and liquor. Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti issued the warrants after Gandapur failed to attend the court hearing, directing authorities to apprehend and present the chief minister before the court on September 17, 2025.

Gandapur’s legal representative, Raja Zahoor-ul-Hasan, subsequently appeared before the magistrate, arguing against the issuance of the warrants and citing damage to his client’s reputation due to media coverage. Judge Chishti stated that even a junior attorney could have requested an extension, which the court would have entertained. The court rejected the plea to withdraw the arrest orders.

Previously, on July 19, 2025, the Islamabad District and Sessions Court also issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Gandapur in the same matter, demanding his arrest and court appearance. The court had also rejected his request for exemption from appearance at that time. The case, filed at the Bhara Kahu Police Station, pertains to the alleged finding of illegal firearms and alcohol.
