COVID-19 claims 25 more patients, infects 1,631 others

Karachi, July 16, 2021 (PPI-OT):As many as 25 more patients of Coronavirus died overnight lifting the death toll to 5,697 and 1,631 new cases emerged when 18,075 tests were conducted. This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Friday. He added that 25 more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives lifting the death toll to 5,697 that constituted 1.6 percent death rate.

Mr. Syed Murad Ali Shah said that 18,075 samples were tested which detected 1,631 cases that constituted 9 percent current detection rate. He added that so far 4,760,327 tests have been conducted against which 354,086 cases were diagnosed, of them 90.4 percent or 319,826 patients have recovered, including 381 overnight. The CM said that currently 28,563 patients were under treatment, of them 27,562 were in home isolation, 931 at different hospitals and 70 patients in Isolation Centers.

He added that the condition of 857 patients was stated to be critical, including 52 shifted to ventilators. According to the statement, out of 1,631 new cases, 1,314 have been detected from Karachi, including 356 from East, 287 Central, 251 Korangi, 190 South, 122 Malir and 108 West. Hyderabad has 52, NausherFeroze 26, Dadu 22, Thatta 21, Tando Allahyar 16, Jamshoro 15, ShaheedBenazirabad and Badin 14 each, Mirpurkhas, Sujawal and Tharparkar 10 each, Umerkot eight, Matiari seven, Tando Muhammad Khan four, Kashmore and Sanghar two each, Ghotki, Khairpur and Larkana one each. Murad Ali Shah urged people to abide by the SOPs issued by the government.
